Carving Blades with a Chainsaw Tutorial for a wind turbine

After you get the jigs in place you need to check the alignment with the chainsaw. I have eight blocks corresponding to eight of the ten stations. The blades thickness, pitch and position are drawn on the block. The chainsaw needs to line up properly with the profile because this is how the blade is going to get carved. You should add about 1/8" to 3/16" above the actual cut because the chainsaw is sloppy, and you will have to sand the board down, loosing some of the thickness. In the pictures below I actually raised the chainsaw higher by adding some washers to space out the sleds a little more.

Shown are stations 1 and 9, going from tip to root.

This is where the cut will originate.

Here I am cutting through the board.

I carefully make a cross cut to get rid of the wood.

Here is the finished cut. You can view this cut on youtube here.
